Top Albums For The Week Of September 30, 2014

14/10/05 at 4.05pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

R.E.M. MonsterHere’s the weekly Top 20 College Radio Albums from the Radio 200 list published by CMJ (College Media Journal). The reputable rag surveys up to 600 college radio stations of a weekly basis to compute the list.

In addition, here’s my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list consists of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.

Here’s the lists:
In what has slowly become the most remarkable story of 2014, the latest effort from Ty Segall has now spent four weeks at #1 on the College Radio Album Chart, who knew?  Six new albums make their debut on the chart including the latest fron The Growlers, Tops, Goat, and ambient techno artist Richard David James a.k.a. Aphex Twin.  The other two newcomers are Alt-J, they make a 59 spot jump to #7, and King Tuff who leaps 77 spots to #5.  Do your ears a favor and pick up “Be Slowly” by JAWS, trust me.  Recently, R.E.M.’s album “Monster” turned 20 years old.  I can remember going to a record store in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio at midnight the day “Monster” dropped.  Those were the days.. physical copies at midnight!
