This week Fox made the rumors of The X-Files returning to television official. The science fiction horror drama television series, that ran from 1993 to 2002, will make its triumphant return with a 6-episode television event. Original cast member Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, and Walter Skinner are all on board, with filming set to begin in Vancouver this summer.
Creator Chris Carter had this to say about the return: “We’re going to tell X-Files the way that we’ve always told them; we will of course set them in the time and place that they exist. We’re telling contemporary stories about contemporary situations, true to Mulder and Scully’s characters and their relationship and the passage of time.”
In a recent interview with the NY Times, David Duchovny (Fox Mulder) was asked whether the new “X-Files” will be serialized or just like a collection of movies of the week. “We’re gonna do both. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna begin and end with the mythology. But I really don’t know,” he said.
By now, you’re asking yourself, what in the hell does The X-Files have do to with indie buzzbands? Nothing, The X-Files is the greatest television show of all time, and on my blog it’s my rules.

The fortieth season of Austin City Limits returns this upcoming weekend (January 3) with the first of seven brand-new episodes. Part two of the 2014-2015 season kicks off with a little alt-country this weekend, and then it’s full steam ahead with the much-anticipated performances from two of Austin’s indie darlings, Spoon and White Denim in week two. Other notable forthcoming performances include: Future Islands, Jenny Lewis, and The Black Keys.
Check your local PBS channel for day and time in your area. As always, I’ll post the full performances in the Indie On TV page, but not any of the alt-country. Check your fave alt-country blogs for those.
