The Shins – North Park Theater – San Diego – Tonight!

17/03/07 at 9.30am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

The ShinsGoINDEEpMusic will be out at the North Park Theater in San Diego seeking a life changing experience.  The Shins will conclude their two-night residency in San Diego tonight.

The pride and joy of Albuquerque, New Mexico will be showcasing most of the tracks off the new album Heartworms, which is scheduled to drop this coming Friday.  Four of the tracks from Heartworms have already been released as singles, including “Painting A Hole,” released last week.  In addition to the new songs, there will plenty of classic Shins tunes, I swear.

Btw, whatever happened with The Shins are confirmed for Coachella?

Kid Wave gets things started around 8pm.

This should be fun!  I’ll keep you posted on the setlist and try to get some vids.

Check out The Shins Mixtape I threw together!

Coachella 2017 Band Of The Day

#39 = Devendra Banhart

17/03/07 at 9.00am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

devendra banhartSinger-songwriter Devendra Banhart comes in at #39 on my list.

Mr. Banhart has been making freak-folk since 2002, yep, freak-folk.  He has nine studio albums to his credit, the most recent being 2016’s Ape In Pink Marble.

To my knowledge, Devendra is making his Coachella debut.  He appears on the poster on Sunday.

Try to appreciate some of his work below…

Coachella 2017 Band Of The Day

#40 = Bon Iver

17/03/06 at 12.00am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

Bon IverFalling asleep at Coachella sucks, trust me.

I feel bad for all those Lady Gaga fans hoping to catch Ms. Gaga make her Super Bowl style entrance to the Main Stage for Saturday night’s headline set.  They’ll all be sawing logs.

Bon Iver is a Wisconsin-based band that plays a brand of sleepy-time-indie-folk music.  The band has released three somnolent studio albums, the most recent being the groggy 2016 release 22, A Million.

I have nothing against Justin Vernon and his boys, I just find their music quite boring. This will be Bon Iver’s second soporific appearance at the Coachella Festival, the other one coming in 2012.

If you ever have trouble falling asleep, check out these two heavy-eyed tracks below.

cassette2-yellow-2Holy Heritage! Quite a start to the year, if Heritage Acts are your thing.  This month we get new music from Ride, Blondie, Depeche Mode, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Robyn Hitchcock, and THE Greatest Indie Band of All-Time, The Feelies.

Heritage not your thing? The tape also includes new music from Animal Collective, No Joy, and Hater.

Pavement founding member Christopher Scott Kannberg is back playing under the his moniker Spiral Stairs, once again.  His latest tune is called “Dundee Man,” a catchy tune that will take you back to his earlier days when he fronted Preston School Of Industry.

Listen here.

Listen To New Music From Jesus Jones, No, Seriously

16/07/01 at 9.01am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

Back in 1991, did you ever wonder what Jesus Jones might sound like in 25 years… wonder no more.

Jesus JonesIn case you missed it, the British grebo legends quietly released new music in the form of an extended play (3 tunes) this past week entitled How’s This Even Going Down?  In addition, the band is threatening a new full-length sometime later this year.

It’s the first new material from the band in nearly fifteen years, that is if you count the band’s little-known fifth studio album London in 2001 and the 2004 EP Culture Vulture.

The group, led by frontman Mike Edwards, enjoyed commercial success in the early 90’s mostly due to the infectious single “Right Here, Right Now,” from the their critically-acclaimed second album Doubt.

The album Doubt is a timeless piece of work that deserves a good dusting off and spin every couple of years.  You can spin it right here, right now on the Spotify.

Over the course of a career than spans almost thirty years, the group released five studio albums, numerous EP’s, and live recordings galore.

I’ve always enjoyed Jesus Jones’ music and dig this new stuff, I dare you to check it out below.

I look forward to adding Jesus Jones to my 2017 Coachella Wish List, that is, when I get around to making it.

Revisit the tune “Who? Where? Why?” below:

Make Music Pasadena Music Festival Today!

Small Black On The Lineup

16/06/11 at 7.56am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

After a two year absence from the Make Music Pasadena Music Festival, GoINDEEpMusic will reappear there today.

Small BlackI’m most looking forward to checking out the Brooklyn indie band Small Black today.  The band is playing Playhouse District Stage at 4:30.  I’ve always said, Small Black is a hugely underrated indie act and the best act to emerge from the chillwave genre, sorry Washed Out.

Other acts I will try to check out include Annuals, PAPA, and Atlas Genius.

Here’s the schedule.

Enjoy some Small Black below:

Listen To The Stone Roses “Beautiful Thing”

Group Plays First Gig In Three Years

16/06/10 at 9.00pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

20131101_stone-roses-made-of-stone_91New music from The Stone Roses keeps on coming!  The band unveiled its latest single “Beautiful Thing” early Friday morning.  It’s the second song to surface from the band in the last month and first form of new music in over twenty years.

The new tune follows the group’s two live performances in over three years, Tuesday at Halifax Victoria Theatre and Wednesday at Carlisle Sands Centre.  Prior to Tuesday’s show, Reni revealed that the band had 100% recorded more new music other than the first single “All For One,” and it sounds beautiful, get it, “Beautiful Thing.”

The band’s setlist this week looks very similar to the reunion shows from a few years back, however, the band reintroduced “Sally Cinnamon” and “Mersey Paradise” to their set on Wednesday, as well as “Begging You” and the first-ever live performance of “All For One” on Tuesday.  Revisit “All For One” right here.

Rumors have surfaced over a possible secret gig this weekend.

All of this precedes a four night residency Manchester’s Etihad Stadium next week.

The band will play New York’s Madison Square Garden on June 30.

Enjoy all seven minutes of “Beautiful Thing” below:
