Deepsters were out in full force Thursday night at the Belly Up Tavern, Southern California’s premiere live music venue. Sea Wolf, the LA cutting edge indie folk act lead by frontman Alex Brown Church was the attraction. The band sliced through a beautifully arranged 16 song set (see setlist below) that was lead off by the 2007 indie smash hit “You’re A Wolf.” Their latest record “Old World Romance” (released September 2012) was showcased in half of the set. The three song encore was highlighted by an Alex solo acoustic performance of “Leaves In The River.” among other things…
Immediately following the gig band members graciously met with fans at the merch stand for autographs, photos, and chit chat. Not only was their hospitality much appreciated, it also provided a much needed safe house before braving the elements. Earlier in the evening support was provided by Brooklyn indie pop act Savior Adore and locals Trouble In The Wind. Savior Adore, decked out in all white (you can pull that off after Memorial Day), provided a fantasy pop set highlighted by the recently released single “Dreamers” and the cover of the Prince classic “I Would Die 4 U.”
On a side note I asked Alex about his former band Irving and whether he plans to do anything else with them in the future, or is
that band toast? His response was “toast.”.
