New to the blog in 2014 is a weekly piece featuring the Top Albums of the week. Each week (like it or not), I will post the Top 20 College Radio Albums taken from the Radio 200 list published by CMJ (College Media Journal). The reputable rag surveys up to 600 college radio stations of a weekly basis to compute the list.
If that’s not enough… I will give you my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list will consist of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.
Here’s this week’s list:
Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings replace Blood Orange as the #1 album on college radio this week. New to the Top 200 are the San Francisco band Painted Palms debuting at #11, and English indie rockers TOY at #19. Seattle based singer-songwriter Damien Jurado jumps 46 spots to #4.
Still stuck in my compact disc player is the debut full-length from hipstress Sky Ferreira. What started out as an innocent guilty pleasure has turned into an obsession I can’t eject.
