ach week I post the Top 20 College Radio Albums courtesy of CMJ (College Media Journal). Below are also 5 discs that I have in heavy rotation and an album that amazingly turns 10 years old in 2015, I call it my Spicy 6.
Courtney Barnett continues her domination of the College Radio Album Chart as she has now spent four weeks in the top spot. Let’s meet this week’s seven new additions to the Top 20. The Brooklyn indie dance duo Matt and Kim (pictured) debut at #20, while the Cambridge, Mass. indietronica act Passion Pit comes in at #19. Meanwhile, the Scottish hip hop pop outfit Young Fathers is in at #18 and the Toronto noise rockers Metz debut at #15. Furthermore, the California indie rock duo Best Coast jumps 122 spots to #13, while Boise, Idaho indie stalwarts Built To Spill debut at #10. Finally, the sophomore effort from Alabama roots rock band Alabama Shakes moves 31 spots to debut at #3. My new #1 compact disc this week is the sixth studio album from Danish indie rockers MEW. In our fun look back at albums that turn 10 years old in 2015, let’s reflect on the debut album from the German indie rock band Art Brut.
