Each week I post the Top 20 College Radio Albums courtesy of CMJ (College Media Journal). Below are also 5 discs that I have in heavy rotation and an album that amazingly turns 10 years old in 2015, I call it my Spicy 6.
That’s two weeks in a row in the top spot for Father John Misty. Four new albums make their debut in the countdown, including one from New Jersey indie rockers Screaming Females and another from the Seattle hip hop duo THEESatifaction. The other two new albums belong to the Athens, Georgia glam-rockers Of Montreal (pictured) and the sophomore release from Edmonton’s Purity Ring. Despite falling to #5, The Decemberists remain #1 on my Spicy 6 countdown. Last week, Some Cities, the third studio album from Doves turned 10 years old. Doves has been on hiatus way too long, I miss Doves. Last year Doves members Jez and Andy Williams started a new band called Black Rivers. Revisit the beautiful tune “Snowden”
