Savages Release Video “Marshal Dear” Denied Mercury Prize
London based post-punk rockers Savages released a video for “Marshal Dear,” the final track on their brilliant full-length debut Silence Yourself.
In other Savages news, the all-female band was denied the Mercury Prize last Wednesday evening. The annual award, which is given to the United Kingdom album of the year, ended up in the hands of James Blake for his release Overgrown. The electronic music producer beat out the likes of Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, FOALS, and Savages for the distinguished award.

Arcade Fire “Reflektor”
The Canadian collective release their follow-up to the Grammy Award-winning album The Suburbs. The buildup of hype and hysteria over this release is enough to make Daft Punk jealous. Things have gotten so crazy for the group that Rolling Stone calls the most important band of the last decade; that they had to change their name to the Reflektors temporarily. The Reflektors have gigs scheduled here in L.A. tonight at Capitol Records and Thursday at the Palladium.

Here’s your Indie on TV alert for the Week of 10/28/13. Remember you can watch previous week’s performances in the Indie on TV page.
Watch Washed Out “All I Know”
The latest single off Paracosm, the sophomore effort from Washed Out, is the beautiful “All I Know.” When all the fun lists are revealed at the end of the year, this tune should be near the top of many of them (IMO, of course). The video, produced by Urban Outfitters, is obviously nowhere near as beautiful as the song, decide for yourself. Washed Out is chillwave extraordinaire Ernest Greene.

Throwing Muses Release Video “Sunray Venus”
In advance of their first studio album in a decade, indie rock legends Throwing Muses, have released a video for the track “Sunray Venus.” The Newport, Rhode Island band’s forthcoming project is titled Purgatory/Paradise, and is out in the U.S. on December 3. This unique project is being published as a 64-page book and a 32-track album. For those that have no use for physical objects such as books and cd’s, the digital download will be made available on November 12.
The current Throwing Muses line-up includes Kristin Hersh, David Narcizo, and Bernard Georges. Not sure what role, if any, long-time
member Tanya Donelly (The Breeders, Belly) played in this elaborate project.

English indie rockers Arctic Monkeys, have shared yet another video from the their outstanding latest effort AM. This week the band released a video for the track “One For The Road,” in addition to an acoustic video version for the tune “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” (watch both below).
Recently, the band appeared on Sirius XMU and said there will be some big U.S. tour announcements coming in early 2014. I take that as a possible spot on the top line at the 2014 Coachella Festival. They deserve it!

The album which was released back in February, has already produced the singles “Carless” and “Shallow” however, “Generational Synthetic” is the first single with a video.
The band seems to be getting by just fine after a few line-up changes. Back in 2011 John Pena left Beach Fossils to form Heavenly Beat, while Zachary Cole Smith departed to form the sharp-dressed indie band DIIV.

Toad The Wet Sprocket Release First Album In 16 Years
Lost in all of the hysteria over Cults releasing their sophomore album Static last Tuesday, was the fact that Toad The Wet Sprocket released their first studio album in sixteen years. Their latest release titled New Constellation, is the long-awaited follow-up to 1997’s Coil. The pride and joy of Santa Barbara, California are considered by many a deepster as a highly regarded guilty pleasure band. The alternative pop rock band has been touring periodically since 2006, but just recently proclaimed themselves as an active project.
