nedsGoINDEEpMusic presents Flashback Friday featuring Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin are an alternative rock band from Stourbridge, England. Their music is described as a post-punk rave funk that oddly uses a double bass and falls into the category of “grebo.” The UK “grebo” subculture movement was short lived and included bands such as The Wonder Stuff, Pop Will Eat Itself, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, Jesus Jones, and Ned’s. The “grebo” fashion style was dreadlocks, partially shaved heads, baggy clothes, boots, and eccentric hats and scarfs.

Bloc Party New EP Out August 13 … and then what?

Bloc-Party-007Bloc Party announced that they will release new music in the form of an EP titled The Nextwave Sessions on August 13. The five track EP consists of tunes that were recorded on their lengthy world tour in support of their latest release Four. Bleached Release Video “Dead In Your Head”

This month for me it’s “Dead In Your Head,” the infectious new single from the LA based band of sisters that call themselves Bleached. The indie pop-punk group released their debut album “Ride Your Heart” back on March 25th, and have since inserted themselve into the best new acts of 2013 conversation. Bleached kicks off their North American summer tour on June 30th in Costa Mesa, Ca.

Arctic-Monkeys-Dont-Sit-Down-Cause-Ive-Moved-Your-Chair-LyricsArctic Monkeys released a new single this morning on iTunes titled “Do I Wanna Know?” The Sheffield, England indie rockers will be headlining Glastonbury next Friday (June 28) and they plan to include the new single along with another new song “Mad Sounds” which has turned up on some recent set lists. The forthcoming album which is planned for a late 2013 release should include both of these tunes.

“It Was My Season” the first single from Okkervil River’s upcoming album “The Silver Gymnasium” has been released through the band’s website. The seventh studio album is scheduled for release in the U.S. on September 3rd. This is their first release with ATO Records after a long relationship with Jagjaguwar. According to frontman Will Sheff the new album takes place in 1986 in a small town in New Hampshire.

The notable performance of the week comes from Grouplove, scheduled to perform on Leno Tuesday night. After squeezing as much as possible out of their debut record “Never Trust A Happy Song”, Grouplove returns with the follow up “Spreading Rumours”, due in record stores September 17. Look for them to play the first single off the album “Ways To Go”.

Shane Meadow’s documentary that chronicles THE most anticipated reunion of our generation is in UK theaters today. Made Of Stone, a film that has followed The Stone Roses since they announced their reunion tour in 2012 is out today and sure to make grown men cry.
