Over the next 11 weeks I’ll dig deep into the 2014 Coachella Music Festival lineup, featuring one band per day. The purpose of this piece is to assist in difficult decisions that inevitably you’ll need to make, as well as, serve as a fun countdown to Coachella Week. Note: All bands appear in a completely random order… Enjoy, and let the countdown continue!
Day 57 = GOAT
Performing = Friday
GOAT is the moniker for singer-songwriter and multi-instrumental artist Wouter De Backer. Mr. GOAT is best known for setting the world on fire with his 2012 pop smash hit “Somebody That I Used To Know.” Wait a minute, I think I was given the wrong GOAT…
GOAT is a Swedish collective that specializes in psychedelic experimental rock fusion. Their vibe is described as funk and tribal rhythms, kraut and prog-rock repetition, psych freakery, and acid folkisms. Sound fun? there’s more, the group has been playing together since they were children and hail from a small town in Northern Sweden known for its voodoo worship. The band performs in masks and apparently is into black magic and bizarre rituals on stage.
Their acclaimed debut full-length World Music came out in August 2012. It’s titled World Music because it samples different styles of music from all over the world. Although it can’t be confirmed, I can only speculate, the name of the band is derived from the 2005 movie “Waiting.”
