Pixies Announce Fall 2013 Tour & New Bassist

Never a dull moment in Pixies camp lately. Two weeks ago we learned that bassist Kim Deal quit the band, and then this past Friday the new song “Bagboy” turns up in your inbox. This morning news broke of an European fall tour and a new Kim on bass. Frank Black, Joey Santiago, and David Lovering will joined on stage by their new bassist Kim Shattuck. Ms.Shattuck’s credentials include fronting the L.A. rock band The Muffs, as well as a member of the eighties paisley underground band The Pandoras. Who could have imagined that this blog would make two separate references to the “paisley underground” scene in less than one week?

Every Sunday we take an INDEEp look into an emerging indie artist.
This week we Shine the Sunday Spotlight on Cayucas.
Cayucas pronounced “ky-yook-us” is a five piece surf pop band from Santa Monica, Ca. The band is named after a quaint beach town in San Luis Obispo County, Ca. Formally known as Oregon Bike Trails, they changed their name to Cayucas in 2012 when founding member Zach Yudin expanded his solo project to a full-on band. Cayucas released their debut album Bigfoot on April 30th and have two songs in regular rotation on indie airwaves, “Cayucas” and “High School Lover.” Inspired by artists such as The Beach Boys, The Tornados, and The Animals, their beach vibes are perfect for a lazy summer day. Cayucas just kicked off their U.S. summer tour.

Flashback Friday: Ned’s Atomic Dustbin
GoINDEEpMusic presents Flashback Friday featuring Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.
Ned’s Atomic Dustbin are an alternative rock band from Stourbridge, England. Their music is described as a post-punk rave funk that oddly uses a double bass and falls into the category of “grebo.” The UK “grebo” subculture movement was short lived and included bands such as The Wonder Stuff, Pop Will Eat Itself, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, Jesus Jones, and Ned’s. The “grebo” fashion style was dreadlocks, partially shaved heads, baggy clothes, boots, and eccentric hats and scarfs.
