The HAIM sisters announced yesterday that they will bringing their indie-pop to the 2014 Coachella Festival. The band took a slightly similar approach to the one Arcade Fire used only days before, by announcing their appearance on their world tour dates (see below). The one difference in the ladies announcement is an attempt to trick the trained eye by sneaking in Las Vegas, NV. on April 17. The ‘”we hope you forget about Coachella because were playing other show around Coachella” tactic never works. My guess in line 3.
Don’t miss HAIM this week on Saturday Night Live. SNL must be on location in Germany this week…
In other Coachella news:
An alleged leak in OutKast camp has the duo reuniting at the 2014 Festival. One of the things this Festival does well is keeping things quiet until at least January. I can’t imagine an act revealing an appearance so far in advance. Writing it for “pretend” on their tour dates, yes, but talking about it openly in November… ain’t buying it. I could be wrong.
BTW, everyone knows that the most successful duo of all time is not Andre 3000 and Big Boi, its Hall and Freaking Oates.
The Arcade Fire announced that there will be a strict “fancy” dress code enforced on their forthcoming Reflektor tour.

Beady Eye “Be”
The band that’s made up of some of the former members of Oasis, are releasing their sophomore effort. The Liam Gallagher fronted band’s latest is the follow-up to their debut 2011 album Different Gear, Still Speeding. The latest video for “Soul Love” (watch below) surfaced on Monday, the tune is part of a double A-Side single with “Iz Rite.” Everything I’ve heard from this album so far is solid.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
This Soundtrack includes some indie faves such as The National, Santigold, Phantogram, and Patti Smith. I also couldn’t help but notice there are a few guilty pleasure acts on it too.

The Canadian collective Arcade Fire announced that they will be appearing on the top line at the 2 weekend 2014 Coachella Festival. The Coachella appearance announcement is documented below and is extremely difficult to see with the untrained eye. However, if you look reeeeeal hard you can see that it’s there. See it? If by chance my eyes are deceiving me, all I can say is… brilliant work by Win and the gang. The band recently released their overhyped fourth studio album Reflektor back on October 28.
Come on Goldenvoice… twice in four years, what’s next The Black Keys?

It was announced earlier this week that Brian Joseph Burton aka Danger Mouse, is producing the new U2 album. The U2 project is in addition to the new Broken Bells music that surfaced recently. Broken Bells, the collaboration of Mr. Mouse and The Shin’s frontman James Mercer, are scheduled to release their sophomore album After The Disco on January 14.
It appears as if Danger has been working with U2 since 2010 on this project, and the finished product is due out in April 2014. The band is said to be procuring a corporate sponsor to unveil ads for the album during next February’s Super Bowl. Now that should insure the LP’s commercial success… The new album will be the follow-up to 2009’s No Line On The Horizon. The band’s latest song “Ordinary Love” will be released on Record Store Day Black Friday, and will also be included on the soundtrack to the movie Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. Is the 360 tour still going on…
It’s probably only coincidence that the album release date and a big U.S. Festival happen in the same month. Probably only coincidence, but stranger things have happened.

– A Benefit Compilation For Slim Dunlap
The 2CD set is a collection of tracks from the benefit singles released in the last year to raise money for Slim Dunlap. The collection includes tracks from The Replacements, Frank Black, Chris Mars, Soul Asylum, The Minus 5, Deer Tick, and many more. The benefit auctions have raised more than $200,000 for the former Replacements guitarist who suffered a stroke in February 2012.

Grizzly Bear “Shields Expanded”
The Brooklyn indie rock band Grizzly Bear are releasing an expanded version
of their 2012 kick-ass album Shields. This deluxe edition includes songs that
did not make the album’s final track listing, demo recordings and remixes. The
band is six months removed from their number one finish in The Spicy Twist…
which reminds me… I forgot to include that in the Coachella 2014 Save The Dates.

The California band best known for sharing items such as cymbals and flamingos, have shared a video for the song “Coming True.” The track is off the band’s impressive full-length debut In Guards We Trust, released earlier this year.

Fresh off of being virtually kidnapped in Mexico City, the Spanish dance rockers found time to make a video for the track “Unhold.” The song is off the band’s latest album Apar, and features Chairlift frontwoman Caroline Polachek on lead vocals. The band also announced the rescheduled North American tour dates which do not include any stops in Mexico (see below).

By now, everyone should be fully aware that I can’t get enough of the Glasgow, Scotland band CHVRCHES. Their full-length debut The Bones Of What You Believe, is truly electro-pop at its finest. The album remains in heavy rotation in my compact disc player since it was released back on September 20. The band’s latest video is for the track “Lies” (watch below).
