AlvvaysHere’s the weekly Top 20 College Radio Albums from the Radio 200 list published by CMJ (College Media Journal). The reputable rag surveys up to 600 college radio stations of a weekly basis to compute the list.

In addition, here’s my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list consists of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.

Here’s the lists:

Jack White remains at #1 on the College Radio Album Chart as his album “Lazaretto” is now the biggest selling piece of physical vinyl since Pearl Jam’s 1994 release “Vitalogy,” congrats Jack.  Four new albums enter the Top 20 including the latest efforts from Gulp, The Acid, White Fence, and Alvvays (pictured).  The self-titled debut from the Toronto based indie beach band Alvvays (pronounced Always) enters the entire Top 200 all the way up at #7.  Did I mention its okay to call them “All-Vays” for giggles?   My top compact discs have been unchanged for a few weeks, I sense changes coming soon.

In addition, here’s my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list consists of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.

Here’s the lists:

Jack White is back in the top spot on the College Radio Album Chart after slipping to #2 last week.  Six new albums enter the Top 20 including the latest efforts from Landlady, Tigers Jaw, Total Control, and Morrissey (pictured).  Originally from Australia, now based in Brooklyn, the indie folk act Luluc (pronounced loo-luke) jumps 17 spots to debut at #8.  Luluc’s album “Passerby” was produced by Aaron Dessner of The National.  Craft Spells return to the countdown for a third time.  In EMO news, the latest from Champaign, Illinois’ pride and joy, Braid, moves up 11 spots to #9.

The Black Keys must have marched down to Best Buy and bought every copy of the new Parquet Courts album “Sunbathing Animal” last week, how else does one explain Jack White dropping to #2 and the Brooklyn indie sensations returning back to #1 ?   Just when you thought EMO week was over, the influential EMO act (who knew there was such a thing) Braid debuts at #20.  Also new the countdown are Black Bananas, Old Crow Medicine Show, and one of Martin’s faves Tijuana Panthers.  Yeah, you read that right, Black Bananas.  Conor Oberst (pictured) has sure been in the news a lot lately.  On a completely separate subject, what in the hell is the deal with Weird Al?

Jack White knocks Parquet Courts from the top spot on the College Radio Album Chart, while White’s bitter rival The Black Keys hold at #3.  Three new artists enter the Top 20, as Craft Spells reenters the countdown.  Tom Krell’s electronic project How To Dress Well is the biggest mover, jumping 99 spots to #12 with his latest effort “What Is This Heart?”  Also new the countdown are Philadelphia based singer-songwriter Timothy Showalter who uses the moniker Strand Of Oaks, and international pop sensation Lana Del Rey.

IMG_4445Parquet Courts (pictured) take over the top spot on the College Album Radio Charts, as The Black Keys drop to #2 after a three week run at the top.  The Brooklyn indie rockers sophomore effort “Sunbathing Animal” is the follow-up to their fantastic debut “Light Up Gold.”  Four new albums enter the Top 20 which include the latest by First Aid Kit, Craft Spells, White Lung, and The Antlers.  “Familiars” the fifth studio album from The Antlers, enters the Top 200 all the way up at #14.  I’m still diggin’ “Disgraceland” by The Orwells, that’s my #1 album again this week.

The Black Keys top the College Radio Album Charts for a third straight week.  Five new albums enter the Top 20 which include the latest efforts from Phox, Hundred Waters, Owen Pallet, Bob Mould, and Jack White.  Mr. White’s album “Lazaretto” moves 66 spots to land at #5, while the self-titled debut from the Wisconsin based sextet Phox (pictured) debuts at #20.  The Phox album will be available digitally next Tuesday.  The Orwells remain at #1 on Spicy Radio.

Here’s the lists:
The Black Keys remain at #1 for a second straight week, while three new albums enter the Top 20.  The latest albums from The Orwells (pictured) and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah enter the entire Radio 200 countdown by debuting inside the Top 20.  “Sunbathing Animal,” the sophomore release from Parquet Courts jumps up 132 spots to make its debut at #8.  DJ Deep’s #1 album this week is “Disgraceland” from The Orwells.  There is a distinct Pixiesesque feel to the album that I’m totally digging.  For those that missed it, The Killer debut album “Hot Fuss” turned 10 years old last week.

This should come as no surprise, The Black Keys (pictured) own the top spot on College Radio this week.  The duo replaces Thee Oh Sees at #1 with their most recent effort “Turn Blue.”  Four new LP’s debut in the countdown this week including the latest from The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Tobacco, Little Dragon, and Sharon Van Etten.  Ms. Van Etten’s album “Are We There” jumps 17 spots and comes in at #5.  The Horrors are still my #1 album, and The War On Drugs returns to my compact disc player after a few week absence.

Here’s the lists:
Thee Oh Sees hold on to the #1 spot on College Radio for a second straight week with their latest album “Drop.”  However, Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney aka The Black Keys, are breathing down their neck with their latest effort “Turn Blue,” which jumps 24 spots to debut at #2.  Besides The Black Keys, there are other new albums this week from Old 97’s, Kishi Bashi, Conor Oberst, The Horrors, and La Sera.  “Hour Of The Dawn” is the latest project from ex-Vivian Girls Katy Goodman,  she’s better known in the indie world as La Sera (pictured), and her  new album jumps an impressive 155 spots to #14.  For those keeping one eye on tUnE-yArDs, the album “Nikki Nack” is up 4 spots to #4.  The Horrors remain at #1 on Spicy Radio.

In addition, here’s my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list consists of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.

Here’s the lists:
San Francisco indie rockers Thee Oh Sees (pictured) take over the #1 spot
on College Radio with their latest album “Drop.” Wye Oak falls to #3 after
spending one week at the top spot. Four new albums debut in the Top 20
including the latest from blog fave tUnE-yArDs, which debut at #8 with “Nikki Nack.”
Other debuts include the latest efforts from Sylvan Esso, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, and Chromeo. “Luminous,” the latest effort from The Horrors holds down the #1
spot on Spicy Radio, while receiving absolutely no love from College Radio.

In addition, here’s my Spicy Six Albums of the week. These are the six albums that can’t find their way out of my six disc changer. The list consists of my Top 5 Albums of the week, and one Heritage Album that’s worth dusting off and giving a listen.

Here’s the lists:
The Baltimore, Maryland indie duo Wye Oak (pictured) top the College Radio Album Charts, knocking Mac DeMarco out of the top spot after four week at #1. Five new albums debut in the Top 20 including the latest from Swedish singer-songwriter Lykke Li. Ms. Li’s third studio album I Never Learn debuts on the Radio 200 all the way up at #17. Also new to the list are albums from Teen, Eels, Jessica Lea Mayfield, and the latest project from Stephen McBean and Gregg Foreman called Pink Mountaintops.

“Luminous,” the latest effort from The Horrors is the #1 album err compact disc on Spicy Radio. I just picked up my ticket to see The Horrors at the Belly Up in Solana Beach in October. How Fun!

Here’s the lists:
Mac DeMarco rules the top of the charts for a fourth week, while five new albums enter the Top 20. “Everyday Robots,” the first-ever solo album from Blur frontman Damon Albarn (pictured) debuts in the Top 200 countdown all the way at #16. The lastest effort from San Francisco’s Thee Oh Sees jumps up 60 spots to debut at #4. Other albums new to the Top 20 include the latest from Woods, Chad VanGaalen, and Death. The Afghan Whigs “Do To The Beast” remains at #1 on Spicy Radio.

It’s three weeks in a row for Canadian Mac DeMarco at the top of the College Radio Album charts. Two albums debut in the Top 20, including the Pixies first album in 23 years, “Indie Cindy.” Also, new to the countdown is Detroit punk band Protomartyr, debuting at #20. Canadian slack rocker Mac DeMarco holds on to the #1 spot on College Radio for a second straight week. Four new albums debut in the Top 20, including “Shriek” the latest effort from the Baltimore, Maryland duo Wye Oak. Up 7 spots and making its debut at #15 is the first album in 16 years from The Afghan Whigs. “Do To The Beast” is the seventh studio album from the Greg Dulli (pictured) fronted band. The Afghan Whigs occupy the #1 spot on Spicy Radio this week.
