Huge Day For Sky Ferreira

13/11/30 at 9.45am   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

Sky FerreiraSeems like its been 24 hours of nonstop Sky Ferreira. The indie hipstress began her whirlwind day by performing on Late Night With David Letterman, and then sharing with the world her video for the title track from her recently released debut album “Night Time, My Time.” I’ve given the debut album a few spins… and I must say it’s surprisingly decent. Later in the day the busy beaver released the B-Sides // Part 1 Collection which includes 3 non-album tracks.

The day concluded with Ms. Ferreira announcing that she will not, I repeat will not, be appearing at the 2014 Coachella Festival. Instead, she will accept a supporting role on the Miley Cyrus upcoming arena tour.

dt.common.streams.StreamServerThe Pixies have unveiled the third video off their four-track EP-1. The latest video is for my favorite song from the EP “What Goes Boom.” Check out guitarist Joey Santiago getting blown up in the video below.

The band begins the U.S. leg of their world tour on January 18 in Boston, and most likely concludes it the third weekend in April in The Promised Land. In other related Pixies news; the band graces the cover of the latest issue of Filter Magazine, the rag hit stands on November 15.

arcadeThe Canadian collective Arcade Fire announced that they will be appearing on the top line at the 2 weekend 2014 Coachella Festival. The Coachella appearance announcement is documented below and is extremely difficult to see with the untrained eye. However, if you look reeeeeal hard you can see that it’s there. See it? If by chance my eyes are deceiving me, all I can say is… brilliant work by Win and the gang. The band recently released their overhyped fourth studio album Reflektor back on October 28.

Come on Goldenvoice… twice in four years, what’s next The Black Keys?

Another Near R.E.M. Reunion

13/11/16 at 10.12pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

Music R.E.M.Those that turned out last night at the 40 Watt Club to see Kevin Kinney and The Roamin Countrymen & Peter Buck, got more than their five bucks worth. Bill Berry and Mike Mills joined Peter on stage at the historic Athens, Georgia live music venue. The almost R.E.M. reunion was missing frontman Michael Stipe, who (allegedly) was in the audience. The three-piece played “Don’t Go Back To Rockville” (watch below), from their 1984 release Reckoning. This is the second time since June that we’ve had a near R.E.M. reunion. Bill, Mike, and Peter also played together at Peter’s wedding reception. Apparently, the four hometown heroes were seen on the streets of Athens the day before, so the aRe wE theM appearance came as no surprise.

Danger Mouse latest projects include U2 & Broken Bells

13/11/16 at 10.03pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

dangerIt was announced earlier this week that Brian Joseph Burton aka Danger Mouse, is producing the new U2 album. The U2 project is in addition to the new Broken Bells music that surfaced recently. Broken Bells, the collaboration of Mr. Mouse and The Shin’s frontman James Mercer, are scheduled to release their sophomore album After The Disco on January 14.

It appears as if Danger has been working with U2 since 2010 on this project, and the finished product is due out in April 2014. The band is said to be procuring a corporate sponsor to unveil ads for the album during next February’s Super Bowl. Now that should insure the LP’s commercial success… The new album will be the follow-up to 2009’s No Line On The Horizon. The band’s latest song “Ordinary Love” will be released on Record Store Day Black Friday, and will also be included on the soundtrack to the movie Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. Is the 360 tour still going on…

It’s probably only coincidence that the album release date and a big U.S. Festival happen in the same month. Probably only coincidence, but stranger things have happened.

The band’s latest video is for the track “Lies” (watch below). Could this be my Album Of The Year???

File this under “Holy Crap, Failure is Reuniting”. Failure is reuniting!!!

Ken Andrews (lead singer of Failure, On, Year of the Rabbit) confirmed via Spin that he’s getting the band back together which means Greg Edwards (Autolux) and Kelli Scott are along for the journey. That’s the classic “Fantastic Planet” era lineup right there people. If you are reading this and asking yourself “What the hell is Fantastic Planet?”, get thyself to iTunes, Amazon, Spotify or what have you and give that record a listen. It’s a 5 star album all the way. Then go back and listen to their other records “Magnified” and “Comfort”. Continue reading →

Watch Washed Out “All I Know”

washed-out-by-shae-detar-650-430The latest single off Paracosm, the sophomore effort from Washed Out, is the beautiful “All I Know.” When all the fun lists are revealed at the end of the year, this tune should be near the top of many of them (IMO, of course). The video, produced by Urban Outfitters, is obviously nowhere near as beautiful as the song, decide for yourself. Washed Out is chillwave extraordinaire Ernest Greene.

Beach-Fossils-Clash-The-Truth2-260x260Brooklyn lo-fi indie rockers Beach Fossils, have unveiled a video for the latest single from their sophomore album Clash The Truth. The album which was released back in February, has already produced the singles “Carless” and “Shallow” however, “Generational Synthetic” is the first single with a video.

The band seems to be getting by just fine after a few line-up changes. Back in 2011 John Pena left Beach Fossils to form Heavenly Beat, while Zachary Cole Smith departed to form the sharp-dressed indie band DIIV.
