The Spanish indie dance group Delorean have announced their follow-up to the 2010 album Subiza will drop on September 10. The new album is entitled Apar and rumor has it that this is a “big production album” (whatever that means…). The first single is called “Spirit.”

Another stellar performance by Father John Misty went down at the Glass House in Pomona on Saturday June 22nd. The remarkable stage presence of Josh Tillman was in full effect, with intensity during songs and humor between them. Regarding the topic of Emo music: ‘I don’t like to talk shit about musical genres, just specific bands’. While he didn’t give in to requests for “I Believe I Can Fly”, the encore included an intense cover of the Beatles classic “Happiness Is a Warm Gun”. FJM should be a priority for anyone to check out, if being entertained is your kind of thing.

Deepsters were out in full force Thursday night at the Belly Up Tavern, Southern California’s premiere live music venue. Sea Wolf, the LA cutting edge indie folk act lead by frontman Alex Brown Church was the attraction. The band sliced through a beautifully arranged 16 song set (see setlist below) that was lead off by the 2007 indie smash hit “You’re A Wolf.” Their latest record “Old World Romance” (released September 2012) was showcased in half of the set. The three song encore was highlighted by an Alex solo acoustic performance of “Leaves In The River.” among other things…

“It Was My Season” the first single from Okkervil River’s upcoming album “The Silver Gymnasium” has been released through the band’s website. The seventh studio album is scheduled for release in the U.S. on September 3rd. This is their first release with ATO Records after a long relationship with Jagjaguwar. According to frontman Will Sheff the new album takes place in 1986 in a small town in New Hampshire.

Here’s your Indie on TV alert for the Week of 6/17/13.
The notable performance of the week comes from Grouplove, scheduled to perform on Leno Tuesday night. After squeezing as much as possible out of their debut record “Never Trust A Happy Song”, Grouplove returns with the follow up “Spreading Rumours”, due in record stores September 17. Look for them to play the first single off the album “Ways To Go”.

The last ten years seemed too good to be true… Non-stop touring, nearly every show available for download, physical copies of the show available twenty minutes later, Doolittle performed in it’s entirety for two straight years, and every show ending like it was something out of The Waltons.
Then we wake up this morning to find out Kim Deal has quit as bassist of the Pixies. Kim has yet to speak, however it was confirmed by the band in this statement from the Pixies facebook page: We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies. We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.
