article-twinkie2-1117Here’s some fun news that you may or may not find music related.

Hostess has recently announced the reunion of the popular indie snack cakes. Twinkies, Ho Hos, and Ding Dings will be back together again and playing the local grocery store circuit starting July 15. After taking a brief hiatus to clear up some bankruptcy issues the brand will now be managed by Apollo Global Management (Carl’s Jr.) and Metropoulos (Pabst Brewing Co,).

Music festival attendees should find it much easier in 2014 to locate this fun late night snack.
Welcome Back!

Flashback Friday: Ned’s Atomic Dustbin

13/06/28 at 10.03pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

nedsGoINDEEpMusic presents Flashback Friday featuring Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.

Ned’s Atomic Dustbin are an alternative rock band from Stourbridge, England. Their music is described as a post-punk rave funk that oddly uses a double bass and falls into the category of “grebo.” The UK “grebo” subculture movement was short lived and included bands such as The Wonder Stuff, Pop Will Eat Itself, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, Jesus Jones, and Ned’s. The “grebo” fashion style was dreadlocks, partially shaved heads, baggy clothes, boots, and eccentric hats and scarfs.

The last ten years seemed too good to be true… Non-stop touring, nearly every show available for download, physical copies of the show available twenty minutes later, Doolittle performed in it’s entirety for two straight years, and every show ending like it was something out of The Waltons.

Then we wake up this morning to find out Kim Deal has quit as bassist of the Pixies. Kim has yet to speak, however it was confirmed by the band in this statement from the Pixies facebook page: We are sad to say that Kim Deal has decided to leave the Pixies. We are very proud to have worked with her on and off over the last 25 years. Despite her decision to move on, we will always consider her a member of the Pixies, and her place will always be here for her. We wish her all the best.

Sweet Lou

13/06/04 at 9.33pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

Legendary Velvet Underground lead singer Lou Reed has undergone a life saving
liver transplant. It is being reported that he is feeling much better and hopes to return to the stage soon.

Lou posted this on his Facebook page shortly after the surgery:
I am a triumph of modern medicine, physics and chemistry. I am bigger and stronger than stronger than ever. My Chen Taiji and health regimen has served me well all of these years, thanks to Master Ren Guang-yi. I look forward to being on stage performing, and writing more songs to connect with your hearts and spirits and the universe well into the future.

Lou unfortunately had to cancel his two appearances back in April at The Coachella Music Festival due to an “unavoidable complication”.
Lou, you’re in our thoughts and prayers. We hope to see you on The Coachella 2014 Poster.

When we originally heard about the Coachella shows being canceled some of us needed to adjust our Top 40 lists.
I had Sweet Lou as my #7 must see show.
