Bernard Sumner Performs With The Killers At Lollapalooza

13/08/03 at 9.17pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

killers-306-1361469034New Order frontman Bernard Sumner joined the pop band The Killers on stage last night at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago. The collaboration was a performance of the Joy Division song “Shadowplay.” The grumpy Sumner is currently recovering from a fractured leg that hasn’t slowed the current New Order U.S. tour. The classic Joy Division tune has always been a staple in The Killers sets. The Las Vegas band, that has recently taken the world by storm for no apparent reason… will amazingly celebrate the 10 year anniversary of “indie classic” Hot Fuss next year.

As promised, here’s an update on the upcoming New Order LP due out later this year. The self proclaimed “Next Sgt. Pepper’s Album” has been scrapped for an EP release instead that the band will begin working on when the kids go back to school in September…

death-to-the-pixies_112019-1440x900HOW FUN! Non stop Pixies news! Today the band released a second video for the single “Bagboy” via Rolling Stone. Frontman Frank Black had this to say about the reasoning behind a second video:

“We didn’t set out to have two music videos for ‘Bagboy,’ but once we saw both of these, we knew we didn’t want to use just one. They’re so good, so creative, and each in its own way, and both made by up-and-coming filmmakers. …Who says you can’t have two videos for a song that show two completely different perspectives? Not us.”

Pixies Added To Riot Fest Chicago Line-Up

13/07/19 at 10.20pm   /   by deepster19   /   0 Comment

riot-festNever in my wildest dreams could I have ever imagined a day when The Replacements and the Pixies would appear together on a concert poster. Wake up… it’s for realz. Riot Fest Chicago has added the Pixies to the September 13-14-15 festival. This is the first U.S. show that the Pixies will feature “New Kim” Shattuck on bass. Ms. Shattuck has taken over for the recently departed Kim Deal. No need to stress Pixies fans, there will be many, many, many more U.S. dates announced in the near future,

Upon further review, I would like to congratulate the organizers of Riot Fest Chicago! Not only were you able to procure two of the greatest rock bands of all-time, you then placed them on the poster next to the two shittiest bands of all-time…..

Flashback Friday: The Cult

walkman
GoINDEEpMusic presents Flashback Friday featuring The Cult.

The Cult are a British hard rock band formed by Canadian Ian Astbury in 1983. The band’s origin is traced back to 1981 when Ian moved to England and formed the gothic rock band Southern Death Cult. The critically acclaimed band enjoyed immediate success and praise when opening for Bauhaus and Theatre Of Hate. Record labels lined up for a chance to sign the up-and-comers, but before they could
put pen to paper Ian broke up the band 16 months into it. While on tour Ian met Billy Duffy from Theatre Of Hate. The two joined forces and formed the band Death Cult, hoping to cash in on the success of the former band’s name. By 1984 the band realized that if they were to going have success in America they needed to drop the gothic connotations and they truncated the name again to simply The Cult.
